From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
